In December 2015 the article was called ‘Christmas 2015’ and here it is:
I’m often asked what watch I would have as a hypothetical gift and Christmas seems a good time to answer the question
Well firstly I think it would have to be something out of the ordinary because we don’t mark events with ‘ordinary’ do we?
I would also want my special gift to relate to me and to the occasion – birth year watches are a great way to mark a special birthday, but what about Christmas 2015?
Ever since my teens I have loved Ian Fleming’s original James Bond books and the films that go with them and that’s why I would ask nicely for the latest James Bond watch from Omega, as worn by Daniel Craig in ‘Spectre’.
Unlike previous Bond Omegas, the Seamaster 300 Spectre is based on a vintage design from the 1960’s and as you can see, it does a great job of a subtle update. The NATO strap similar to the one that Sean Connery wore in Goldfinger is a nice touch too.
Unfortunately no one is actually likely to ask, and as I probably haven’t been well enough behaved to rely on Santa, it’s a good job I’ve just ordered one for myself ….
