Normally IWC are best known for their pilot’s watches but they also make some cracking nautically focused pieces too.
This IWC Aquatimer Galapagos edition watch is equipped with a 79320 calibre in-house movement with three hands and a chronograph as well a day and a date function – it was designed with the focus on robustness and reliability. The rotating inner bezel is perfect for any timing use but it was designed for divers, hence the uni-directional ‘Safedive’ system.
The case is made of stainless steel which is used to protect the movement when exposed to the humid, salt-bearing sea air which puts an enormous strain on both personnel and material – for extra protection the entire case including the bezel, crown and pushers are coated in vulcanised rubber – the rubber strap is integrated into the case in such a way that makes it extremely comfortable as well as looking great and being hard wearing.
The dial looks fantastic in black with the white hour markers and white bezel graduations – seriously, this watch looks amazing on the wrist.
This watch is in superb original condition and it comes with everything that came with it from new including both boxes, all the booklets and the registration card (the ‘papers’) – The rubber strap is original and looks great with its original IWC buckle.
Serviced two years ago and just tested, passing with flying colours, this IWC Aquatimer Galapagos edition is supplied with a twelve month warranty.
Still made now, the current retail price of this watch is £8,850.
