When asked to name a shortlist of the most important watches ever made, everyone who knows anything about the topic HAS to mention the Omega Speedmaster Professional
However, before the classic Speedmaster Professional gained its unexpected fame on July 20th 1969, Omega had already planned its replacement, The Omega Speedmaster Mark II. While the Speedmaster Professional was basically a vintage design sharing several features with the Omega Seamaster Chronograph, the Mark II was a much bigger, chunkier more modern design altogether – much more fitting to the late 60’s/early 70’s vibe.
While following its lunar success, the Professional underwent a resurgence in popularity that lasts until the present day, the Mark II was only made for about five years before the theme was developed further and finally fizzled out at the end of the 70’s.
This Omega Speedmaster Mark II was made in 1971 and is 100% original in every way – dial, hands, bracelet, the lot. It was a one owner watch until we bought it recently.
This watch is in truly excellent condition with no scratches, marks or scuffs anywhere and the bracelet has enough wear to make it comfortable while still being strong and safe. The movement has just been serviced by an Omega certified watchmaker and it comes with a twelve month warranty.
