TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 17
This is an excellent TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 17.
Whenever watch fans are asked about all time classic watches, along with Submariners, Daytonas and Tanks, comes the Heuer Monaco – this is possibly something to do with the fact that Steve McQueen wore one in the movie Le Mans, and possibly because they’re both bold and beautiful.
The Monaco was not made at all between 1975 and 1998, and this Calibre 17 version is one of the very first Monacos made with the TAG Heuer dial after the company became part of the LVMH group – at 38 x 38mm, it’s also the first truly square Monaco (all previous versions were slightly rectangular). It is pretty immaculate throughout – perhaps a little wear in the strap – there must be something to fault the case, dial or hands perhaps but it can’t be much because I can’t find anything.
The strap is the original TAG Heuer with the stainless steel deployant buckle which is in excellent condition and the Calibre 17 (based on the ETA 2894-2 movement) was serviced a couple of years ago, has just been checked and tested and is running perfectly with no need for a service.
When you add in the boxes, papers, booklets and the tag this really is a stunning thing for the watch lover.
As always, this Monaco is supplied with a 12 month warranty.
