This Bulova Accutron Spaceview 7387 is a rare cushion cased example with an even rarer chapter ring dial (If a Spaceview has a 'dial'...?)
With so many vintage Accutrons in poor condition, the case, dial ands original logo'd plexiglass of this one make it stand out. The leather strap is in good condition and it is fitted with an original Bulova stainless steel buckle. Apart from the strap, it is all original.
First made in 1960, the Bulova Accoutron was the first watch ever to feature an alternative movement to a standard mechanical one. The Accutron's movement It is the only watch including quartz movements, which does not use a balance wheel and hairspring. Instead it has a tuning fork driven by a battery and an electronic circuit. The vibration of the tuning fork is converted into rotary motion, for moving the hands.
As you can tell, the Bulova Accutron is an incredibly important piece in the history of timekeeping as a whole and specifically wristwatches. It is literally one of the most important watches ever made.
Just tested by Rolex and Omega certified watch specialists Michlmayr & Co this Bulova Accutron Spaceview is running well.
