This Omega Speedmaster Professional is an all original, one owner Full Set from 1997. It has the classic design of manual wind movement, three sub dials, no date, black dial, Hesalite crystal and stainless steel back. This is the specification of the original Moonwatch from 1969.
A rare model, this is a ‘double reference’ Speedmaster, 145.0022 and 345.0022. It is one of the very last of these made with the 861 movement.
It is in excellent condition with some tiny marks but no real damage anywhere and only a very small amount of wear in the bracelet. It comes with the boxes, papers and books as well as a some previous service receipts and the original purchase receipt.
Just tested by Omega certified watch specialists Michlmayr & Co and this Omega Speedmaster Professional is running within COSC spec.
In the 1960s when NASA were looking for large, manual wind chronograph for Neil Armstrong and his crew to take to the moon, this is the watch that they wore. Automatic movements don’t work in zero gravity you see. Ever since it has been referred to as ‘The Moonwatch’. Incidentally, they took these watches on five subsequent lunar missions – so it’s hardly a flash in the pan.
