Captain, later Colonel, Sir Tom Moore became a national hero in 2020 after walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday, raising over £32 million for NHS charities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020 Oris presented Colonel Sir Tom Moore with a one-of-one watch as part of its Local Heroes initiative.
It was an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date with a specially engraved caseback.
Sir Tom felt he was too old for a new watch and asked Oris to auction it on his behalf and donate the money to the NHS, which they did.
One of our customers bought it at auction and we have recently taken it into stock, so this is Sir Tom's actual presentation Oris.
It comes with the papers as well as an enamelled Holstein Bear Key Ring, the usual leather pouch and a leather card holder. It also has a print of the GQ Men Of The Year article that mentions the watch and a copy of the GQ magazine with Sir Tom on the cover.
The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date is a beautifully styled dive watch with a 42mm case made from bronze that develops a lovely patina over time.
The superb green dial has a date track around the outside and white Arabic numerals around the inside. The two syringe hands glow brightly with Superluminova and the red tip of the date hand sets everything off perfectly.
It's fitted to a brown leather Oris strap with matching bronze pin buckle.
The condition of everything is excellent with no damage whatsoever and the natural patina developing nicely on the bronze case. There is just a little wear to the original strap.
Just tested, this very special Oris is running within COSC spec and comes with a 12 month warranty.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a superb Oris Diver that's not only a 1 of 1, but is an important part of English Lockdown history.
