Unfussy and uncluttered with nothing superfluous, the Rolex 116400 Milgauss has a simple design and a stainless steel case that lends it a solid feeling. The Oyster bracelet with polished centre links makes a bridge between sports and dress styles.
This is an excellent Full Set Rolex 116400 Milgauss with a black dial, bought in 2015. It is basically unmarked with nothing to distinguish it from new to the naked eye. It is complete with everything that came from the factory.
The Rolex 116400 Milgauss range was recently discontinued completely and this has seen a fall in the number of watches available on the market and a rise in prices. This is one of only a few truly excellent examples available in the UK.
The Rolex Milgauss was developed in the late 1950s specifically for the scientists at CERN whose wristwatches wouldn’t work in areas of high magnetism. The movement of most watches stops working when subjected to magnetic fields measuring around 70 Gauss.
This watch was specially designed to work in areas of up to 1,000 Gauss. Hence the name ‘Milgauss’.
