The Rolex Explorer 114270 is the last of the classic 36mm Explorers - beautifully proportioned, wonderfully understated and increasingly interesting to collectors.
The Rolex Explorer has always been one of the purest Rolex sports watches. Its origins stretch back to the early days of the Explorer collection in the 1950s, and reference 114270 retains the formula that made it so successful: a compact 36mm case, highly legible black dial and unmistakable 3-6-9 layout.
What makes the 114270 particularly appealing today is its place in the Explorer story. It represents the final generation of the traditional 36mm Explorer before Rolex increased the case size, giving it the classic proportions many enthusiasts now actively seek out.
This example is in lovely condition, with fat, sharp lugs, a superb original dial and hands, and a bracelet showing very little evidence of wear. It's exactly the kind of condition that matters when looking for a well-preserved older Rolex.
