This Rolex Milgauss black model is complete with everything that came from the factory including boxes and papers, booklets and the red chronometer seal. Discontinued completely two years ago, this has resulted in a fall in the number of watches available on the market and a rise in prices. This is one of only a few truly excellent examples available in the UK.
The Milgauss was developed in the late 1950s specifically for the scientists at CERN whose wristwatches wouldn’t work in areas of high magnetism. The movement of most watches stops working when subjected to magnetic fields measuring around 70 Gauss. This watch was specially designed to work in areas of up to 1,000 Gauss. Hence the name ‘Milgauss’.
