There are watches that impress in photographs, and others that really make sense when you handle them. The Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix falls firmly into the latter category. The blue dial is superb, with white gold hands and Arabic numerals giving it a clean, elegant appearance. Look more closely and you'll also find Vacheron's distinctive Maltese Cross throughout the watch - on the dial, crown and even the 18ct white gold buckle.
Turn it over and the sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the movement, where the finishing and attention to detail become a significant part of the appeal. It's a watch that rewards closer inspection from both sides.
This example is in superb condition. The stainless steel case and watch itself are virtually unmarked, with only a little wear visible to the strap. It's supplied as a Full Set, complete with its original inner and outer boxes and papers.
Recently tested and running perfectly, this is a beautifully preserved example of a watch that offers something quite different from the more obvious choices at this level.
