An exceptional 1959 vintage Omega Speedmaster with its original Base 1000 bezel, beautifully aged tropical dial and legendary Calibre 321 movement.

The Omega Speedmaster CK2998-1 is one of the most collectible early Speedmasters, dating from a time before the watch became famous for its connection with NASA. Introduced in 1959, the CK2998 replaced the original Broad Arrow design with distinctive alpha hands and a black tachymeter bezel, establishing the look that would become synonymous with the Speedmaster.

What makes this particular vintage Omega so interesting is its original Base 1000 bezel, a rare early variation featuring a tachymeter scale starting at 1,000 rather than the later 500. Produced for only a short period, surviving original examples are particularly desirable.

The dial is equally special. Originally black, it has developed a beautiful, light chocolate-brown tropical patina over the decades. Completely original and unrestored, it retains its attractive aged luminous markers and correct early applied Omega logo.

Inside is the legendary Omega Calibre 321, the manual-winding chronograph movement that would later power the Speedmasters worn during the Apollo Moon missions.

The CK2998 also has its own place in space history. In 1962, astronaut Wally Schirra wore his personal CK2998 aboard Mercury-Atlas 8, making it the first Omega Speedmaster worn in space.

An original Base 1000 bezel, stunning tropical dial and historic Calibre 321 - this 1959 Speedmaster captures everything that makes early vintage Omega watches so fascinating to collectors.
