We’re kicking off 2026 with something genuinely special at Oakleigh Watches – the Rolex Sprite. Officially known as the Rolex GMT-Master II 126720VTNR, the Rolex Sprite has quickly become one of the most talked-about and collectible modern Rolex sports watches.
Unlike traditional GMT-Master II models, the Sprite was designed to stand apart from the very beginning.
The reference 126720VTNR tells an important story. The “20” in the reference signifies that this watch is fundamentally different from any previous GMT-Master II. The VTNR designation stands for Vert Noir, meaning green and black – the distinctive bezel colours that define the Rolex Sprite.
Green has long been associated with Rolex, but the green-and-black Cerachrom bezel gives this watch a sharper, more contemporary look. This unique colour combination is the reason collectors quickly gave it the nickname Rolex Sprite.
The defining feature of this watch is its ‘Destro’ layout. The crown and crown guards are positioned on the left-hand side of the case, making the Sprite the first production left-handed Rolex ever offered to the public.
Rolex has previously made left-handed watches only as special orders, typically for divers or military personnel. The Rolex Sprite changes that history. Designed to be worn on the right wrist, the left-hand crown allows the wearer to adjust the watch easily with the left hand.
While brands like Panerai have produced Destro watches in the past and the iconic Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 is a famous left-handed example, the Sprite represents a landmark moment in Rolex design.
Despite its unconventional layout, the Rolex Sprite remains unmistakably a GMT-Master II. It retains classic GMT proportions, a ceramic bezel insert, and is available on both Jubilee and Oyster bracelets.
On a Jubilee bracelet, it feels refined and luxurious, ideal for daily wear. On an Oyster bracelet, it leans into its tool-watch roots, delivering a sportier presence. In either configuration, the Rolex Sprite wears beautifully on the wrist.
The green is the same rich tone seen on the Rolex ‘Starbucks’, but paired with black it becomes more striking, more modern, and instantly recognisable.
This watch is much more than a colour variation. It represents a rare moment of genuine innovation from Rolex – a brand known for evolution rather than revolution.
For collectors, an unworn Sprite with full documentation represents exactly the level of completeness and originality that drives long-term desirability.
Collectors value the Sprite because it is:
The first production left-handed Rolex
A unique green and black GMT bezel
A modern GMT-Master II with strong future collectability
A watch that immediately stands out within the Rolex sports range
Whether you are drawn to the Rolex Sprite for its design, its historical significance, or its investment potential, it has already secured its place as one of the most important modern GMT-Master II references.
At the time of writing, we have an unworn Rolex Sprite Full Set in stock at Oakleigh Watches. It includes the original Rolex box, original tags and serial number tags, GMT-Master II booklets, the Worldwide Service Manual, and the original papers.
