Limited edition watches often tell a story beyond timekeeping, and few do it as meaningfully as the Omega Orbis Speedmaster Limited Edition. Created in partnership with Orbis International, this watch combines Omega’s legendary chronograph heritage with a powerful humanitarian mission.
At Oakleigh Watches, we’re fortunate to currently offer a perfect, unworn 38mm Omega Orbis Speedmaster, complete with full accessories – a rare opportunity to acquire a watch that blends beauty, purpose, and collectability.
Orbis is a remarkable international organisation that travels the world operating a Flying Eye Hospital – a fully equipped ophthalmic teaching hospital housed within an aircraft. The mission is simple but profound: to carry out eye operations for children and adults in parts of the world where access to eye care simply doesn’t exist.
Omega’s involvement with Orbis goes far beyond branding. For every operation performed, Omega sponsors the gift of a teddy bear for Orbis patients – a small gesture that brings comfort during life-changing procedures. The Orbis Speedmaster Limited Edition was created to support this mission, with part of the proceeds from every watch sold donated directly to Orbis.
The Orbis Speedmaster is a 38mm chronograph, offering slightly more refined proportions than the traditional Moonwatch while retaining unmistakable Speedmaster DNA.
The first thing that strikes you is the dial. The sunburst blue main dial is electric and vibrant – a rich royal blue that shifts beautifully in the light. Complementing this are three horizontal oval subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, finished in a paler blue tone. A fourth vertical oval date window at 6 o’clock mirrors the Orbis theme and adds symmetry to the design.
The aluminium tachymeter bezel frames the dial perfectly, staying true to Speedmaster heritage, while rhodium-plated hour markers add a subtle metallic contrast.
The bracelet is made up of smaller, more intricate links, giving it a feel closer to a Rolex Jubilee than a traditional sports chronograph bracelet. This makes the watch exceptionally comfortable and versatile on the wrist.
The chronograph pushers and crown sit on the right-hand side as expected, while a date-set button on the left-hand side of the case allows quick adjustment. This watch is supplied complete with its original date-set tool, as it should be.
At the time of writing, this example remains completely unworn, with the bracelet still wrapped in its original blue factory protective plastic – something rarely seen on discontinued limited editions.
This Omega Orbis Speedmaster is offered as a complete set, including:
Complete documentation not only enhances collectability but also reinforces the watch’s story and provenance.
Limited edition watches play an important role in modern watchmaking. For collectors, they offer exclusivity, narrative, and differentiation. For brands, they provide an opportunity to celebrate heritage, mark partnerships, or support meaningful causes – as Omega has done with Orbis.
From a value perspective, limited editions often benefit from:
While no watch should be purchased purely as an investment, thoughtfully produced limited editions from established luxury brands often enjoy strong long-term demand, particularly when they combine rarity with genuine purpose.
The Omega Orbis Speedmaster Limited Edition is more than a beautiful chronograph. It’s a watch that represents craftsmanship, compassion, and conscious luxury – a timepiece that quite literally helps change lives.
With its striking blue dial, wearable 38mm case, complete set status, and charitable legacy, this is a standout example of what limited edition watchmaking can achieve.
